Business After Hours @ Bibby Line Group Ltd
Book your placeAbout the time the Bibby family went into business Napoleon was causing havoc in Europe, the Americans had won their war of independence, and Liverpool was just beginning to exert its influence as a port. That was more than 200 years ago.
Bibby Line Group has successfully navigated every kind of upheaval and challenge to become what it is today; a global group of companies involved in a diverse range of activities including financial services, logistics, and retailing, in addition to ship owning and management.
You are invited to join Sir Michael Bibby and company archivist Christina Spencer to hear the rich history of the Bibby Line Group. Christina will give you an insight in to the history of this family, its activities as the oldest family owned shipping company in the world, and how it has transformed into such a diverse global business.
This talk takes place at the head office on Duke Street in Liverpool, which has its own history as the first public library in Liverpool between 1852 and 1860.
The impressive glass-roofed atrium of the building houses the history of all our business activities, enabling you to better understand the growth and success of this Liverpool Company.
There will be a drinks reception with canapes and a chance to network with others interested in the history of the city and its businesses.
There will be entertainment provided by the young people from Fairbridge in Merseyside who Bibby Line Group is a big supporter.
This a chance to understand more about 'your' Liverpool and the influence the Bibby family has had, not just on Liverpool but the world.
